Local SEO & Google Maps for Indian Small Businesses
A practical local SEO checklist for Indian businesses: accurate business details, useful pages, reviews and clear enquiry paths.

When someone nearby searches for a service, they need to quickly understand what you do, where you work and how to contact you. Local SEO helps make those answers clear across your website and your Google Business Profile.
Start with complete, consistent business details
Use the same business name, address and phone number on your website and business listings. Add your service area, opening hours, categories and a short description that explains your real work. Keep the details current when your hours or location change.
Choose the most accurate primary category. Add only relevant additional categories and services. A profile filled with unrelated keywords can confuse customers and weaken trust.
Build useful pages for the places you serve
Your website should explain each main service in plain language. Include the cities or neighbourhoods you genuinely serve, the problems you solve and an easy way to enquire. If you have a real office or a distinct local team, make that clear on the relevant page.
Avoid publishing dozens of near-identical city pages. A small number of helpful pages with real local details is more useful to people than pages that only swap the place name.
Make reviews easy to find and respond thoughtfully
Ask customers for honest feedback after the work is complete. Share a direct review link, and reply politely to both positive and critical reviews. Never offer rewards for a particular rating or write reviews on customers’ behalf.
Reviews help a potential customer judge whether your business is a good fit. They are one part of your reputation, alongside clear service information, photos and a reliable response process.
Measure enquiries, not just impressions
Track calls, form submissions, WhatsApp conversations and direction requests where available. Note which services and locations bring useful enquiries, then improve those pages and your follow-up process.
Local search work takes consistency. Keep your profile accurate, publish genuinely useful information when you have it, and review the quality of enquiries over time.
